Jorng Jam Conference Presentations

Jorng Jam was invited to present a selection of works for the International Association of Genocide Scholars Conference in Phnom Penh in June 2019. Dana Langlois designed 4 new panels showcasing artworks from each collaborating artist: Neak Sophal, Kim Hak, Neang Kavich and Kong Vollak. The oral histories and historical photographs were connected to the exhibit via QR code.
It was an opportunity to share the work again with a group of established and emerging scholars working locally and internationally on the topic of genocide. The exhibit was put up in the main foyer where people gathered each day. We also presented our own session. This was a great opportunity for us all to revisit this work and share the essence of this project.

I presented Jorng Jam II at the 2017 Oral History Australia Conference in Sydney (Sept - and 5mths pregnant). The theme was “Moving Memories, oral history in a global world”. In addition to the presentation, the project exhibited a small selection of images and videos to screen in the conference space.

Jorng Jam presented at the 2017 Australian Museums and Galleries Conference in Brisbane at State Library Queensland. The response was positive and we were able to showcase a community partnership model that many museums and galleries would like to use but don’t often have the time, staff or $$. True partnerships and intimate connection being the focus of our talk. Some of the key note presentation from that year.
I also travelled to Victoria, Australia in 2015 to present the exhibition in digital form to audiences at Ballarat Foto Bienalle.
